Scott takes leave from East Riding

The musical partnership between Ian Scott and East Riding of Yorkshire Band has come to an end.

East Riding

The East Riding of Yorkshire Band has announced the resignation of Musical Director Ian Scott.

Memorable victory

It brings to an end a successful three and a half year musical partnership that included two appearances at the Third Section National Final in Cheltenham and a memorable North of England Third Section Regional Championship victory in 2014 (above).

Professional approach

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Ian's professional approach has reflected on the band, who enjoy a strong following in the East Riding area and beyond.

He has realised that the combined commitments as Musical Director at East Riding, his renewed playing career and the travel involved, meant something had to give and it was his bass trombone that won out!"

Hallas lead

4BR was also informed that Garry Hallas, the MD of Emley Band, and a long-time friend of East Riding will now lead them at the Second Section North of England Regional Championship in Durham.

The spokesperson added: "We are inviting applications for the permanent position of Musical Director after the Area Championship."
