RNCM set for Brass Festival

The brass band movement's most important showcase Festival will take place at the RNCM in Manchester this weekend.

Five of the UK's foremost bands will be joined by world class soloists, an award-winning brass quartet, an ambitious youth band and outstanding student bands from the RNCM and the Junior RNCM to perform a wide range of fresh and well established repertoire in Manchester this weekend.

McCabe, Horovitz, Ball

Throughout the weekend's prestigious Festival of Brass,, the music of John McCabe who passed away last year will be performed along with that of Joseph Horovitz and Michael Ball who celebrate their 90th and 70th birthdays this year whilst their will be a host of world premiere performances from Nigel Clarke and Alexander Comitas amongst others.

Cory, Grimethorpe set for Radio 3

It has also been announced that selections from both Cory and Grimethorpe Colliery's performances on Sunday afternoon are to be aired on BBC Radio 3 next Thursday evening (4th February) between 7.30pm and 10pm.
