Linthwaite opt for youth with MD

18 year old Tommy Tynan has become the new MD of Linthwaite Band.

The Linthwaite Band has announced the appointment of 18 year old Tommy Tynan as their new Musical Director.

Bradford debut

The tuba player with Grimethorpe Colliery made his debut with the band in December 2015 and will make his first contesting appearance at the helm at the forthcoming Yorkshire Regional Championship in Bradford in March.

Enthusiasm

Band Chairman Bob Eastwood told 4BR: "We are over the moon that Tommy has come to join us and brings his enthusiasm and commitment to developing the band. We are looking forward to a very bright future under his baton starting at the Area contest."

Tommy himself added: "I'm delighted at the appointment. I took numerous rehearsals and a concert before Christmas and was very impressed how they reacted to my different style and approach to the music we played.
