Cory Band has released details of its forthcoming concert tour to the USA, which will see the reigning National Champion and number 1 ranked band in the world perform six concerts across five different states.
Generously supported by Besson Musical Instruments, the tour will be the first time the band has returned to America since taking part in the nation's historic bi-centennial celebration in 1976.
Special programmes
Speaking about the concert programmes the band will feature, MD Philip Harper commented: "We have devised two themes which aim to show the American audience just what a 21st century British brass band is capable of.
Our 'Best of British' showcase we will include music from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales such as 'Men of Harlech', 'Riverdance' and 'The Yeoman of the Guard', as well as featuring an eclectic mix of music from Malcolm Arnold, the James Bond movies and rock-group Queen."
Space Odyssey
He added: "The second is called 'A Space Odyssey' and will featuring music from 'Star Wars', 'Star Trek', 'E.T.' and '2001: A Space Odyssey', as well as celestial-themed pieces such as 'Stardust' and 'Mars' from 'The Planets'.
Both concerts will feature the usual array of dazzling soloists and, in the light of our recent success at Brass in Concert, we will also give audiences a chance to hear our 'Four Elements of the Universe' programme, featuring music depicting Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
We are all looking forward to a great musical adventure where we will make many new friends."
