The Hitchin Band will start its 150th anniversary year celebrations in 2016 by welcoming their new Musical Director, Graham Chambers.

Respected

The respected former trombone player with the Morris Motors Band and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain also worked at the BBC as a music editor for Radio 3 and has conducted numerous brass band and ensembles in the London area.

From 1990 he took a job as librarian and music editor with the London Symphony Orchestra.

We are now looking forward to working with Graham to consolidate our position as well as preparing for the events that we have planned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the formation of the band in 1866Hitchin Band

Delighted

Hitchin Band Secretary, Mike Thorn told 4BR that he was delighted with the appointment ahead of what promises to be a very exciting year for the band.

"We have come a long way over recent years, rising from the Third to the First Section. We are now looking forward to working with Graham to consolidate our position as well as preparing for the events that we have planned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the formation of the band in 1866."
