The European Brass Band Association has announced the set-works for the 3rd European Youth Brass Band Contest in Lille next year.
The event will take place on Sunday 1st May, following the European Brass Band Championships the same weekend.
Development Section
The set-work for the Development Section is 'Music for Greenwich' by Edward Gregson.
Originally commissioned in 1980 by the Greenwich Theatre, London, for a new production of Peter Buckman's play 'All Together Now', it is inspired by the story of a struggling brass band in the North of England brought to a new level of achievement by an incoming conductor.
It has been used at Youth level before — including the North American and Australian National Championships and the Schools Section of the National Youth Championship of Great Britain.

Premier Section
The Premier Section set-work will be 'Olympus' by Philip Harper, which takes its inspiration from the original Olympic Games set in Ancient Greece — and which are thought to have begun in 776 BC.
It was written to coincide with the modern Olympic Games returning to London for a third time in 2012.
The work depicts three aspects of the original games — from the busy 'Chariot Race' through to the underlying ethos of peace through sport in 'The Olympic Truce', and has been used as the set-work for the 2012 Third Section Regional Championships in the UK.
