Cornish Youth ready for 60th birthday work

60 young players of the Cornwall Youth Band will be enjoying a busy Christmas holiday this year thanks to Mike Fowles and David Thornton.

An appropriate number of young musicians will join together for the 60th anniversary of the Cornwall Youth Band just before the end of the year.

60 talented youngsters will spend four days of their post Christmas Day holidays rehearsing and studying under the baton of guest conductor Michael Fowles alongside Foden's euphonium star and guest soloist David Thornton.

Life long passion

The band was founded in 1955 and has become an essential step for many youngsters development in what will hopefully be a life-long passion for brass banding.

At the end of the course the band will give a Gala Concert at St Michael's Church in Newquay on Wednesday 30th December at 7.00pm.

The band will also be opening their doors to their Open Rehearsal & Audition afternoon at 2.00pm on Sunday 28th December.

Opportunity

This gives young musicians an opportunity to observe the band in action and talk to the local team of conductors and tutors about becoming members.
