Duguid takes Garden leave from Welwyn

Alan Duguid resigns from his Musical Director role at Welwyn Garden City Band.

Alan Duguid

4BR has been informed that conductor Alan Duguid has resigned from his role as Musical Director of Welwyn Garden City Band.

Difficult decision

Speaking to 4BR, he said. "It's been a very difficult decision to make but due to the increased workload at my school where I'm a music teacher it has become impossible to give the required time and dedication to all my commitments.

The band has been so working so hard in their aim to get back up through the sections. I'm sure they will be able to achieve that with another conductor lucky enough to work with them. They are a band on the up, full of great people."

Help

He added: "I will continue to help the band in any way I can if time allows, but at present having one full time conducting role with Redbridge is as much as I can manage."
