Tenor horn star Owen Farr has just returned from the United States where he has been performing with the professional star studded Brass Band of Battle Creek in their December series of concerts.
Perth to Troy
It was the latest musical journey for the Besson artist that in the last few weeks also included a highly enjoyable trip to Perth for the Scottish Festival of Brass where he provided free masterclass lessons for lucky players alongside well known retailers Band Supplies.
Owen told 4BR: "My trip to Scotland was fantastic — especially as working with Band Supplies it enabled me to link-up directly with players to give them one to one advice and help. It was a great initiative from them and I hope to be able to do more in the future.
It was certainly a busy day — I was flat out, and it was great to hear so many really good players. Scotland has a great deal of talent in its banding ranks."
It's a real honour to be invited to play with the band — and a bit jaw-dropping when you look around and see the superstar players they have playing with themOwen Farr
Battle Creek
A few days after his Scottish trip Owen flew to Detroit before making the 2 hour journey north to enjoy a week with Brass Band of Battle Creek.
He added: "It's a real honour to be invited to play with the band — and a bit jaw-dropping when you look around and see the superstar players they have playing with them.
The concerts were great fun — especially the one in the city of Troy in Michigan, but you still have to pinch yourself now and again when you realise the company you are in!"
