There will be plenty of great music to enjoy this weekend at the Scottish Open and Scottish Challenge contests in Perth.
Not only will the top section bands perform a new work entitled, 'Gallery' by Howard Snell, but the bands taking part in the Band Supplies Scottish Challenge contest will present a wide variety of works from the pen of Edward Gregson.
Great classics
There are some great classics to enjoy to — from his iconic 1977 National test-piece 'Connotations' and 1984 National set-work 'Dances & Arias' to his startlingly inventive earlier works such as 'The Plantagenets', 'Voices of Youth' and the ever popular 'Laudate Dominum'.
The event is sponsored by Band Supplies who will also be on hand throughout the day in showcasing the full range of Besson instruments and Courtois trombones on their trade stand.
Delighted to support
MD, Ronnie Tennant told 4BR: "We are delighted to support the Scottish Festival of Brass — and especially the Challenge Section which will features music by one of the movement's finest composers.
It's a rare opportunity for brass band loves to listen to works from a mastercraftsman, and we are sure the music will be enjoyed listeners and competitors alike."
