The Poulton le Fylde Band is continuing to explore new and exciting musical boundaries following their recent Greek mythology inspired performances at the recent Bolsover Festival of Brass contest.

Now the band is linking up with one of the rising compositional stars of the banding movement, Jonathon Bates.

The Black Dyke horn start and RNCM student has been invited to work with the band on a couple of new works — including his own 'Into the Clouds' which will received its World Premiere this weekend as part of the band's Remembrance Concert.

Drama and intensity

MD Dave Collins told 4BR: "The composition packs plenty of drama and intensity in less than 2 minutes — and features active percussion writing and powerful brass statements. It's a perfect programme opener for any occasion or festival."

The concert will also feature Adam Taylor's evocative setting of 'St. Clement' written for the Wingates Band as well as more traditional brass band works.

Working with the band

Dave Collins added: "It's a pleasure to have composers come down to the band to work on their own music. 'Into the Clouds' is a fantastic concert item that the band have loved playing."
