Lydney to host training initiative

Lydney Band has ensured that training bands in their area won't miss out on a great day of music making — thanks to support from Nigel Seaman and the Gloucestershire BBA.

Due to the cancellation of the GBBA Entertainments Contest this year, the Lydney Training Band has acted swiftly to host a Festival for Training Bands on the same date of November 22nd.

The band recently hosted a highly a successful Training Band Brass/Percussion Workshop with Owen Farr and so decided that with such a great response to that event, they would hold their own Festival at their band headquarters.

Nigel Seaman

The respected conductor and band trainer Nigel Seaman has agreed to mentor the non-competitive occasion and the band are delighted that the event has been supported by the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association (GBBA)

Great support

Lydney Town and Training/Starter Band conductor Kevin Ford told 4BR.

"Despite the GBBA event being cancelled due to a fall in senior band entries, there was still a great deal of support from the training and starter bands, so we decided to have a go ourselves."

Five bands will now showcase their sets of up to 25 minutes in duration with Nigel Seaman giving his advice and constructive tips of encouragement to help them with their long term development.

At be end of the day the bands will come together to provide some massed bands entertainment.
