Praise the Lourdes

A resurgent Lourdes Brass has made it a 2015 'Double' after their second major title win of the year under MD Michael Hannan.

Lourdes Brass

Lourdes Brass has continued its excellent run of contesting form under former Black Dyke cornet player Michael Hannan.

After their win at the IABCB 50th National Band Championship earlier in the year, the band was crowned North of Ireland Band champion by claiming victory in the Grade 2 Section of the North of Ireland Band Association (NIBA) Championship in Armagh on the weekend.

Confidence

Members of the band and their supporters travelled to the Market Theatre full of confidence, and their hard work certainly paid off as they claimed the title against six rivals thanks to their excellent performance of the set work, 'Hollywood' by Goff Richards.

Not only did the band claim a well deserved victory, but their tuba section also picked up the 'Best Bass Section' award.

All our members and supporters are thrilled with this fantastic win. To perform the double this year is an amazing feat — one we hope to build on in the futureBand Chairman, Niall Whelan

Formal award

Lourdes Brass will now look forward to the annual NIBA awards evening where representatives will formally accept both awards.

Band Chairman, Niall Whelan told 4BR: "All our members and supporters are thrilled with this fantastic win.

To perform the double this year is an amazing feat — one we hope to build on in the future."
