Reigning Swedish National champion Windcorp Brass Band is celebrating its tenth anniversary later this year with a musical gathering of old and new friends at a special gala concert evening in Gothenburg on November 7th.
Past decade
Over the past decade the band has gained widespread critical acclaim for its musicianship and innovative approach in working with many leading conductors and artists, and will be conducted for the occasion by Prof Garry Cutt who has also led the band to four National titles.
In addition, Garry conducted the band at the European Championship in 2011, and has been a welcome visitor to Sweden for a number of years.
Soloists
The Marple Maestro will be joined by his wife Lucy, who will also perform alongside euphonium virtuoso Glenn Van Looy, who last played with the band in 2014.
Another special guest will be Royal Philharmonic Orchestra principal trumpet James Fountain, who played with Windcorp at the 2014 National Championship, where he won the 'Best Soloist' prize.
Sharing the conducting duties for the concert will be Tom Davoren. Tom met the band for the first time during a rehearsal weekend this autumn and immediately developed a musical relationship with them.
