Bergen enjoys trip to UK shores

Bergen Brass Band has just enjoyed a great trip to the UK — making news friends and wining over audiences with their musical approach.

Grieg

Bergen Brass Band has just returned home from a wonderful trip to the UK, where the Norwegian band made new friends and entertained audiences with their playing.

The week-long trip saw them perform several concerts — from Huddersfield to Delph alongside a number of artists and various guest soloists.

Enjoy

The trip came in association with well known brass band conductor and musician Simon Wood, director at the Hade Edge Academy. Simon has worked with Bergen on several occasions and was on hand throughout the trip to help the members enjoy themselves.

The band certainly brought a musical taste of Norway with them, playing a number of traditional pieces from the likes of Edvard Grieg (above) alongside contemporary works from composers such as Torstein Aagaard Nilsen and Ketil Hvoslef.

Success

The conductor on tour was Sturle Berntsen, who has led the band to success in recent years. He also led Bergen in the artistic co-operation with international jazz trumpeter Jesper Riis.
