Sandhurst Community Brass has reluctantly accepted the resignation of its highly respected conductor, Martin Hayter.
Martin led the band for over five years — a period which saw them nearly double in size and become a highly competent non-contesting band in the Hampshire & Berkshire area.
Hard work
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Martin took the mixed abilities of players and trained them accordingly, working up increasingly challenging and always entertaining programmes which delighted community audiences time and again.
However, his hard work and dedication didn't stop there. The many hours of planning, e-mailing, phoning and making extra trips to the band room and venues to prepare for rehearsals and events made all the difference to ensure every performance was a resounding success."

Bridge
Sandhurst Community Brass is part of the Sandhurst Silver Band organisation, with Martin providing an essential bridge between the two, encouraging players from either the contesting band to help out and play in the Community Band and see some of his own players take the 'step up' into the main contesting band.
