Following a very happy visit to the UK earlier in the year in order to direct Newtongrange Band at the Spring Festival in Blackpool, Dr Keith Wilkinson (above) will make a welcome return from the USA in order to direct a special re-union concert of the famous William Davis Band on Saturday 3rd October.
Charity event
The charity event will take place at the Heritage High School in Clowne commencing at 7.00pm, and forms a fantastic musical aperitif to the weekend's Bolsover Festival of Brass.
It is exactly twenty years since the William Davis Band performed a highly successful concert tour of Switzerland, so the repertoire used there, as well as other pieces the band performed in their innovative concert appearances will be aired again.
Soloists to be featured will include Glenn Birks (cornet), Ruth Sidney (flugel), Brett Baker (trombone) and Ian Wright (euphonium).
Brett's association with William Davis and Keith began on the 1995 tour when Brett joined up as a last-minute sub!
Happy memories
The event will also give fans a chance to recall happy memories of Keith's highly successful tenure as Musical Director, which lasted from 1985 to 1995.
During that time they claimed numerous Regional and National titles, including victories at six Area wins and successes at Yeovil, Grand Shield and the Edinburgh International Festival Contest.
Repertoire
Repertoire for the concert in Clowne will include Keith's arrangement of 'French Military March', prepared especially for the 1995 Swiss tour and his ever-popular arrangement of the 'Bacchanale' which was the finale on their victorious Yeovil programme.
The event will also give fans a chance to recall happy memories of Keith's highly successful tenure as Musical Director, which lasted from 1985 to 19954BR
