Ty Cerdd and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) have announced the formation of the National Youth Training Band of Wales.

Workshop day

The new band will meet for the first time at a one day workshop to be held at the RWCMD in Cardiff on Saturday 17th October, where players aged up to 16 years, and of around Grade 5 standard, will have the opportunity to work with Philip Harper, this year's National Youth Brass Band of Wales conductor.

The inaugural workshop day is supported by the RWCMD conservatoire's staff and senior students.

Fun

The Cory Band MD told 4BR:"I'm delighted to invite players to apply for the National Youth Training Band day, where we will have a lot of fun putting together a varied programme of items for a short final concert."

Exciting venture

A Ty Cerdd spokesperson added: "This is such an exciting venture, where players will learn lots of new approaches, play alongside a variety of like-minded people in an amazing building, and be inspired by some fabulous tutors who will give you their own tips from the top.

It will all be a great experience, so we look forward to meeting up with enthusiastic players in Cardiff."

The total of cost for the day is £10.00, payable upon application.
