The Band of The Prince of Wales Division — one of the three wholly professional brass bands in the British Army — has taken part in one of the most prestigious appearances since its formation.
The band was recently invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the 'The Big Sing' for the BBC's 'Songs of Praise' programme.
Theme
The theme of the packed out event was to honour Her Majesty the Queen, and under the direction of Captain Paul Collis-Smith they accompanied her favourite hymns and Coronation music, as well as providing the opening fanfare with one of Paul's own compositions.
Featured items included Vaughan-Williams' 'Old 100th' and Parry's 'I was Glad' with a choir of over 1000 members and orchestra. Other soloists included Alexander Armstrong singing 'Londonderry Air' and Lesley Garrett performing 'Cwm Rhondda'.
