Tredegar will head to the British Open boosted by the news that their latest musical collaboration is set to make another worldwide artistic impression.
Dark Arteries
Excerpts from Gavin Higgins' ballet score of 'Dark Arteries' and his major composition 'Destroy, Trample, as Swiftly as She' are being been used in an evocative animated film by renowned Irish producers Treehouse Pictures about the historic 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin.
Earlier this year Tredegar provided the musical accompaniment to the critically acclaimed 'Dark Arteries' production by the Rambert Ballet Company at Sadler's Wells in London, whilst 'Destroy, Trample, as Swiftly as She' was initially premiered by the band at the European Championships in 2011 in Montreux.
CD release
A major CD and vinyl recording of Higgins's compositions, including both works, is to be released in the near future.
However, excerpts will now also be heard to accompany the animated short called 'Angel of 1916' (above), which tells the very personal, fortuitous, story of one man who took part in the Easter Rising centred on Dublin's Main Post Office.
Evocative
Co-producer Liam McNeive, told 4BR: "It is a very personal story — especially to me, as the man in question is my grandfather — but in a wider sense it is also one that is very evocative to a worldwide audience.
The score needed to bring many different strands together, but Gavin's music has done this wonderfully.
It is so powerful yet moving — even in such short excerpts, I'm sure it will make a huge impression when it will be shown in prestigious film festivals and arts events across the world."

Musical outlook
Tredegar MD Ian Porthouse added: "It says a great deal about the band's musical outlook that we are now being asked to collaborate on such innovative projects.
We are delighted to been able to play our part thanks to Gavin's fantastic music."
