30th anniversary celebration for Sounds of Brass

Phillip Hunt and the Sounds of Brass radio programme will celebrate its 30th anniversary next weekend.

Phillip Hunt

Next weekend, one of banding's most popular radio broadcasters will be celebrating 30 years of bringing brass band music to the world.

30th anniversary

Phillip Hunt has produced and presented 'Sounds of Brass' since 1985, and his weekly programme on BBC Radio Cornwall is heard from Sidmouth to Sydney thanks to the advent of the worldwide web and the radio i-player.

For his 30th anniversary programme (his 1495th) he presents music from some of the rising Cornish compositional stars that Phillip has been a sterling advocate for over the years — including Daniel Hall, Simon Dobson and Christopher Bond, whose Tenor Horn Concerto, 'Bestowal of a Century', performed by Lowenna Taylor also celebrates his other great musical passions of the Cornish Youth Band and the famous Bugle Contest.

BBC Sounds of Brass — Worldwide
