Bedford enjoy Malta return

Bedford Town Band has just enjoyed a wonderful return trip to the historic island of Malta.

Malta

Bedford Town Band has just returned from a highly successful tour to Malta — ten years after they last visited the historic island.

Guests

The band was the guest of the George V Band in the town of Mqabba for the weeklong festival of the Feast of the Assumption.

Gifts were exchanged between Mayor Dave Hodgson and Dr Charlene Zammit, Mayor of Mqabba as well as the Bishop of Bedford and the local parish priest.

These included a copy of 'Pilgrim's Progress' signed by the Reverend Chris Damp of the Bunyan Meeting Church, where the band rehearse, and a presentation score and parts for the hymn 'Who Would True Valour See' arranged by band member Roger Nichols.

Processions and concerts

The band also took part in processions and concerts (above) throughout the week, although there was time to enjoy the spectacular fireworks displays as well as exploring Malta and the adjoining islands of Comino and Gozo.

Now safely back in Bedford, the band is continuing with their normal rehearsals for a busy schedule of appearances up to, and beyond Christmas.
