The Leicestershire Brass Band Association has announced details of its forthcoming 'Open Contest' — including the closing date to get your entry in.

The Leicestershire Brass Band Association has announced that their popular LBBA 'Open Brass Band Contest', is to be held on Sunday 22nd November at Charnwood College, Loughborough in Leicestershire.

Entries are now being taken, with a closing date of 12th September. Adjudicators this year include John Berryman, John Doyle, Dave Lea and Leigh Baker. Once again there are six sections — from Championship to Unregistered.

Sports Hall

A spokesperson told 4BR: "In response to the closure of one of the main halls, we would advise Championship and First Section bands that these contests will now take place in one of the sports halls on site.

Bands are advised that they will need to walk outside between the usual band assembly and the new contest hall, and to take into account the slightly 'bouncy' acoustic of the new venue."

Entries

Following last year's excellent entry the organisers are also hoping bands get their entries in as soon as possible.

The spokesperson added: "In response to participating band feedback, entries will be limited this year to ensure a reasonable finish time and to support those travelling some distance to join the contest."
