The 2015 Miners' Welfare Entertainment Contest will take place at a new venue this year as 10 bands compete to get their hands on the magnificent South Wales Miners Challenge Cup and £600 first prize.
Art deco
The event, with its highly enjoyable entertainment sets from competing bands will take place in the art-deco auditorium of the superbly refurbished Newbridge Memorial Hall — one of the finest historic Miner's Welfare Halls in the country — on September 12th.
Ammanford, Cinderford, Crosskeys, Crwbin, Cwmtawe Youth, Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Melingriffith 2, Swindon Pegasus, Upper Rhondda and Ynyshir provide their entertainment sets to get the nod from adjudicator John Winterflood.
Prizes
In addition to taking home the splendid Challenge Cup valued at over £6,000 (above), the generous prize fund will also see awards made to the 'Most Entertaining Band' as well as to the 'Best Third and Best Fourth Section' Bands and individual trophies.
The winning band will also gain an invitation to take part in the 2016 Welsh Open Entertainment event.
