The West Yorkshire Police Band will be leading the Leeds Pride March this weekend.
The event takes place for the ninth time on Sunday 2nd August with a vibrant atmosphere celebrating the diversity and acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. In 2014 over 30,000 people enjoyed the day.
Musical company
The West Yorkshire Police Band has joined good musical company with the likes of Gareth Gates, Joe McElderry, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Katrina & The Waves all taking part in recent years.
Appeal
A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band is always interested in widening our appeal to a new audience and we certainly aim to do this with by leading the march and performing a short concert on the main stage.
We have commissioned arrangements of Pride Anthems and hope to really get people singing and dancing all the way round!"
The band has recently performed to a sell-out crowd at Bradford Cathedral and presented music by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Leigh Baker as well as a new commission 'On Ilkla Moor'

New ideas
MD Dave Collins told 4BR: "The band have really embraced these new ideas and have worked hard to take the band to a new audience. We are all looking forward to Leeds Pride."
