The Scottish Brass Band Association has responded to the recent press release from the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators regarding the implementation of their SBBA 'Passport to Adjudication' initiative.
In a recent statement published on 4BR, AoBBA revealed that they were 'extremely disappointed' at the lack of consultation with them from SBBA, when it had been understood both would work together on what they called 'constructive initiatives for the future development of the brass band movement.'

Statement
A SBBA spokesman told 4BR: "The Scottish Brass Band Association is fully committed to enhancing the contesting experience for everyone involved.
This includes offering detailed, insightful and constructive adjudications on performances in order to give bands the feedback they deserve after weeks, and often months, of intensive rehearsals.
The 'Passport to Adjudication' has been developed in conjunction with individuals who have considerable experience of working with the Scottish Qualifications Authority, as well as decades of involvement in the brass band scene.
It includes thorough training programmes for prospective adjudicators to ensure they are comfortable with the system and innovative, real-time voice-over adjudication to help bands pinpoint exactly where performances excelled or required further consideration.
The Scottish Brass Band Association looks forward to working with all partners, including the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators, to ensure bands and conductors receive the beneficial, in-depth adjudications they deserve in order to help them continue developing on the path to success."
