The Cory Band will be adding a bit of Dutch euphonium expertise to their ranks for their forthcoming CD recordings with the news that Robbert Vos will be making the trip across the English Channel and River Severn to join up with the Welsh champion this weekend.
Second time
With newly appointed solo euphonium Glyn Williams stuck with the logistics of moving house and with existing adjudication commitments to fulfil, the Schoonhoven euphonium star (above left) was asked to step in after he enjoyed his last trip to play with the band on a recording in June.
Delighted
Cory MD Philip Harper told 4BR: "We are all delighted to have the chance to work with Robbert Vos again on these CD projects.
I've admired Robbert's playing ever since I first heard him at the European Championship in Rotterdam in 2011.
After a successful concert with him as soloist in the Netherlands last year, and with him playing with us on a recent CD recording he was the perfect choice to help us again."
It is a real honour to play with the band. To be asked once was great, but to be invited back again is very specialRobbert Vos
Trio
Robbert will be helping on the completion of a trio of recordings — with the final touches being put to principal cornet Tom Hutchinson's debut release, a major recording of band works featuring compositions by Hans Werner Henze and Elgar Howarth, and a project to commemorate the works of war and peace commissioned by Paul Hindmarsh.
Honour
Robbert told 4BR: "It is a real honour to play with the band. To be asked once was great, but to be invited back again is very special."
