Shaw fine thing for Fairey

Fairey announce signing of Pete Shaw from Leyland on repiano cornet.

Fairey

The Fairey Band has announced the signing of Pete Shaw as the North West Regional Champion looks ahead to the second half of the major championship contest season by strengthening their ranks.

Highly regarded

The highly regarded former BT and Ashton under Lyne principal cornet returns to the Stockport band for a third time in his career — on this occasion from rivals Leyland where he has also been occupying the top man seat. It is understood that he will now take on the repiano role following the departure of David Gilson to Foden's.

Delighted

Fairey Band Manager, Nigel Beasley told 4BR: "We are understandably delighted to be able to welcome back Pete, who has enjoyed an association with the band going back many years.

He is one of the best cornet players around, so we are thrilled that he has accepted our invitation to join us."

Thanks

He added: "We also add out thanks to young David Gilson who is joining our rivals Foden's on flugel horn but leaves with our very best wishes. He is a fine young player with a great future ahead of him."
