The Amersham Band has told 4BR that it is hoping to raise £300,000 to buy a new bandroom so it can continue to expand its musical activities.
Long term future
Band Chairman Fred Harrison, told 4BR: "This is a major appeal to secure our long term future. Our bands and brass groups have been growing and now we want to extend our beginner groups and launch a Brass Academy for teaching.
At the moment we have to squeeze into the space we have in a nearby village, but it is too small and is an out-of-town location. We really want to get back into the centre of Amersham."
So far, the band has raised £25,000 and hopes to raise the rest from grants, donations, fundraising and by using its reserves4BR
Ideal property
The band has identified an ideal property — a local assembly hall which is being sold by St John Ambulance. So far, the band has raised £25,000 and hopes to raise the rest from grants, donations, fundraising and by using its reserves.
