Trombone star Brett Baker makes a long haul flight east later this week to appear at the Singapore Low Brass Festival.
Artistic Director
Brett is the event's Artistic Director, and making the trip with him are colleagues from Black Dyke's trombone section — Paul Woodward, Garry Reed and Adrian Hirst. The short tour has been sponsored by Michael Rath Instruments and Music Elements Singapore.
Whilst there, the ensemble will perform new arrangements by composer Ian Jones to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the quartet being set up, whilst Adrian and Paul will also introduce the delegates to recitals that feature British composers and music of the Salvation Army.
Concerto
The Gala Concert will also feature Adrian playing 'Rhapsody for Bass Trombone' by Steve Bulla and Brett tackling Johan De Meij's immense, 'T-Bone Concerto' — both (bove) accompanied by the Singapore Philharmonic Youth Winds.
And whilst his Black Dyke colleagues travel home, Brett will fly onto Thailand where he will lead a number of recitals and workshops before moving onto the Philippines where he teams up with international euphonium soloist Adam Frey.

Then, it's onto Malaysia for a similar series of recitals and teaching sessions before a final detour to Hong Kong for the Slider Asia Festival, which includes performances alongside colleagues David Childs and Matthew Van Emmerick.
