The draw for the 2015 Brass in Concert Championship, which was due to have taken place on June 18th, has been temporarily postponed.

It follows feedback representation from a number competing bands in response to the decision of the BiC contest management team to allow Grimethorpe Colliery and Cory to be placed in the second half of the 2015 contest draw.

Informed

As reported on 4BR, both bands will be appearing in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday 14th November, the night before the Brass in Concert event.

4BR has confirmed that the contest organisers were informed of the concert appearance of both bands soon after they competed in the 2014 BiC event.

Accommodate

The subsequent decision relayed to bands (dated 26th May) was reported by the BiC Management team as; "In keeping with the Brass in Concert Mission Statement, in which we state our intention to attract the finest bands in the world to the Championship, we have decided that it would be in the best long-term interests of the event, and for brass bands in general, to accommodate these bands on this occasion."

However, it transpired that this was the first time that the other competing bands had been notified of the decision by the organisers despite invitations for the 2015 event being issued to them on 11th January.

had taken the decision to postpone the planned draw and instead to call a meeting of band representatives to address the issues associated with this matterBiC Management Team

Feedback

Following the feedback representations, a further communication to the competing bands (dated 12th June) from the Brass in Concert Management Team stated that it, "...had taken the decision to postpone the planned draw and instead to call a meeting of band representatives to address the issues associated with this matter."

4BR understands that this will now take place in Birmingham on Tuesday 23rd June.
