Following the recent announcement that Dr Robert Childs had accepted the role as their new Music Advisor, the Woodfalls Band has confirmed that the highly respected Dutch conductor, Erik Janssen will lead them at the British Open this year.
Delighted
Speaking to 4BR, Dr Robert Childs said: "I'm delighted that Erik has accepted my invitation lead Woodfalls at the British Open.
We have worked together many times together during his highly successful tenure at Schoonhoven (above), and I know he will bring the best out of the band."
As a professional conductor and trumpet player, Erik Janssen has played for renowned ensembles such as the Dutch Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Ballet Orchestra, Amsterdam Wind Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra, as well as leading Brass Band Schoonhoven to four consecutive Dutch National titles.
Experience
At present he is the professional conductor of the Band of the Military Police in Apeldoorn as well as Musical Director of Brass Band 'de Spijkerpakkenband' and 'Het Noord Nederland Jeugdorkest' (North Netherlands Youth Wind Orchestra),
In the past few years he has also worked with Whitburn, Paris Brass Band, Manger Musikklag and the National Youth Band of Switzerland.
