Dark Arteries creates national media interest

The forthcoming collaboration between brass and ballet is creating something of a media stir.

Dark Arter

The forthcoming 'Dark Arteries' artistic collaboration between the Rambert Ballet and Tredegar Town Band has created a great deal of national media interest.

The Times

The production will be featured in a major forthcoming article in The Times newspaper as well as on the Radio 3 arts programme Music Matters, whilst on the opening night at Sadler's Wells on 12th May, the BBC Six O'clock and Ten O'clock news will broadcast features, led by their Arts Correspondent Will Gompertz.

Admiration

The band recently met up with the dancers for their first full rehearsal in London prior to their 'Changing Britain' concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank, where MD Ian Porthouse and his players were full of admiration of their fellow performers.

"Composer Gavin Higgins has produced a quite superb work that combines the band and the dancers so well. We were all blown away by the way the way they were able to interpret the music — they really are breathtaking."

Respect

He added: "It's great to gain so much media interest, but it is even better that it comes with a level of respect for the brass band movement showing itself to be progressive and inventive in its musical outlook."
