Foden's set for Magna Carta celebration

Foden's will join forces with the Halle Orchestra in July to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta.

Foden's Band will join forces with the world renowned Halle Orchestra on Wednesday 1st July to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta.

Duncan's new commission

The concert at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall (pictured above) will see the two ensemble's combine to perform Andrew Duncan's new commission 'A Tale of Two Empires: Cottonopolis'.

Michael Fowles will conduct Foden's at the high profile event in Manchester with their programme also including Eric Ball's 'Resurgam' and Howard Snell's arrangement of the 'Pines of Rome'.

The Hallé conducted by Stephen Bell will feature amongst their items Arnold's 'Peterloo Overture', Walton’s 'Henry V Suite' and 'The History of the English Speaking Peoples'.

Mark Wilkinson, Foden's Band Manager told 4BR: "We are delighted that the Hallé has invited the band to be their guests at this high profile concert.

The Hallé is one of the world's leading Orchestras and we hope that our appearance will raise the profile of brass bands as well as introducing our idiom to a new and wider audience".

June 17 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet again on Monday (22nd) and we welcome players of all standards to join us for a relaxed,friendly rehearsal with Tea and cake.. Rehearsals are at 11am in our own bandroom playing with us does not effect your band.

June 15 • After a fantastic result at the Wetherby Drovers Contest, The Harrogate Band are looking for a front row and a back row cornet player to complete the team. Rehearsals Weds 8pm with occasional Sundays at our own bandroom with great transport links
