Foden's forces set for premiere

The myths and legends of Cheshire will be put to music in a new premiere by composer Andrew Stevenson and the combined forces of Foden's and Foden's Youth Bands.

The joint forces of Foden's and the Foden’s Youth Bands will premiere a brand new work by composer by Andrew Stevenson next month.

Tales and Myths

Entitled 'Tales of Myths and Legends' the work takes its inspiration from the famous historical tales and stories of Cheshire — including those of dragons, wizards, mermaids and much more.

The idea for the joint item came from a similar concert last year which featured a performance of Howard Snell's 'Images of the Millennium' given by the bands.

Exciting project

Youth Band co-ordinator Ian Raisbeck told 4BR: “As part of our vision at Foden's we have championed young composers, particularly with our youth banding programmes.

We have worked with Andrew ever since our very first performance in 2012, and his latest piece is a very exciting project which we are both looking forward to premiering."

Close relationship

Ian added: "We are also delighted to be able to work with new organisations such as Keele University Brass Band with who we are looking forward to forging a close relationship with over the coming years.”
