Following the success of the inaugural ‘Tenor Horn Spotlight’ at the 2014 Black Dyke Brass Arts Festival, this year’s event promises to offer even more for lucky delegates who wish to attend.
Principal lead
Led by Black Dyke’s Jonathan Bates, the workshop day will take place at Leeds Town Hall on Sunday 17th May starting at 9.00am (ending at 4.00pm) with a larger room made available to accommodate even more enthusiastic tenor horn players from all over the country.
The morning workshop will be led by Jonathan with assistance of Helen Varley and Alison Childs, and will focus on every aspect of the modern tenor horn playing.
Opportunity
In addition there will also be the opportunity for delegates to play in a massed tenor horn ensemble on new arrangements, a chance to chat individually and get to know the members of the Black Dyke horn section, and ask any questions regarding playing or preparation that delegates can think of!
Once again the delegates will also be able to take to the stage to play alongside Black Dyke in the afternoon Gala Concert, performing the horn feature ‘Theme from Elvira Madigan’ as part of a section dedicated to those taking part in the day.
