The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB) is to hold its forthcoming Easter residential course at Harrogate Ladies College.
Tovey and Fountain
Conducted by Bramwell Tovey, the 80 players will be joined by guest soloist, 20 year old, James Fountain, a former principal cornet of the band and recently appointed principal trumpet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The traditional end of course concerts will be held in Salford and Morley.
Open Day
During the course, the band will host a free open day, which enables talented youngsters from across the UK to enjoy the NYBBGB experience.
Open to young brass and percussion players between the ages of 8 and 18, the day also offers a warm welcome to music teachers. Youngsters will have the opportunity to play with the band, receive coaching from the organisation’s team of tutors, and audition for a place in the band should they wish to.
Course tutors include Mark Wilkinson, Ben Godfrey, Paul Young, Owen Farr, David Childs, Chris Jeans and Les Neish.
Looking forward
NYBBGB's administrator Philip Biggs told 4BR: “We're really looking forward to our visit to Harrogate, a venue we have been visiting for many years.
We're delighted that the Easter course will be led by Bramwell Tovey and that James Fountain is to return as guest soloist. It promises to be hugely exciting for performers and audiences alike."
Concerts
The band's residential course will be held between 28th March and 4th April, which will culminate in concerts at the University of Salford's Peel Hall (3rd April) and Morley Town Hall (4th April.) The Open Day will be held on Tuesday 31st March.
