The current North of England Area champion is aiming to recall former glories in its new guise this weekend at Durham.

The Reg Vardy Band will showcase its preparations on Peter Graham’s ‘The Torchbearer’ under MD Russell Gray in an open rehearsal on Thursday evening, before heading to the new Area contest venue hoping to start an new era of dominance there — as it did at Darlington for so many years as the battery sponsored Ever Ready Band.

A spokesperson told 4BR: “It seems rather appropriate that we head to Durham as reigning champion and with a nice, if rather tenuous link, to our famous Area winning past!”

The band will be holding the free open rehearsal from 7.45pm-9.45pm on Thursday 12h March at the old Salvation Army Hall, View Lane, Stanley, Co Durham DH9 0DX4BR
