BBC Final set for live broadcast

The Final of the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award will be broadcast live from the Royal Northern College of Music on Friday 27th March.

It has been confirmed that the Final of the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award will be broadcast live from the Royal Northern College of Music on Friday 27th March.

Preview

A preview of the event will be broadcast on Listen to the Band with Frank Renton and guest Ben Thomson who is now Principal Tuba of the Orchestra of The Royal Opera House, the night before.

Finalists

The Final will feature the talents of David Gillson (Cornet), Grant Jameson (Euphonium), Adam Bokaris (Euphonium) and Benjamin Goldscheider (French Horn) in an event presented by Ken Bruce Frank Renton, who will also be conducting all the music played by the accompanying band, Grimethorpe Colliery.

Grimethorpe will also give a short concert of the brilliant music of John Williams including his theme for ‘Born on the 4th of July’ which will feature the 2014 winner Matilda Lloyd trumpet.

Reprise

The judges (John Wallace, Stephen Roberts and Steve Sidwell) will announce the winner who will then take to the stage to perform once more.

Cambrian Brass

January 11 • We are a friendly, inclusive and hard-working brass band, welcoming players of all ages and abilities. We are particularly keen to fill our Soprano Cornet, Flugelhorn, Tenor Horn, Euphonium and EEb Bass positions.


Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band
