Plans are well underway to hold the Newtown (Mid Wales) March & Hymn Tune Contest on Sunday 14th June.

Popular

The popular event will once again be held in Newtown’s Hall Park, with a march along the town High Street into the park, where competitors will then play an own choice quick march, and a hymn tune from the red 120 Hymn Book and one other entertainment piece, with a suggested playing time of 15 minutes.

Generous prize fund

The competition will be for bands graded in the Second, Third and Fourth Sections nationally, non-registered bands, youth and training bands, with a generous prize fund, trophies and a great informal atmosphere to enjoy.

Following the death of its highly respected President, John Bennett, the organisers have also announced that a new trophy in his memory will be awarded to the best bass section.
