Dyke 160th appeal narrows field

As reported on 4BR the reigning 'Double' champions Black Dyke are hoping that they can celebrate their forthcoming 160th birthday with the help of as many former players as possible.

Black Dyke has told 4BR that their appeal for as many former players of the band to join them on stage for their 160th anniversary celebration concert has already been a great success — although there are still some more former Queensbury stars the band wishes to link up with if possible.

Special concert

The special 160th anniversary concert takes place on the afternoon of the 12th July at Huddersfield Town Hall, and as Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR, the response so far has been great.

"We have been contacted by so many former players that it’s been amazing. Now we want to get in touch with many we simply haven’t got a telephone number for.

Many are still playing — so if you are on our list, please get in touch — it would be great to have you join us on stage for such a memorable occasion.”
