Generous prize money up for Rainford grabs

There is march & hymn tune money up for grabs at the first ever Rainford event in May.

The Rainford Band has released further details of their first ever March & Hymn Tune Contest, which will be held on Sunday 24th May in the heart of Rainford Village.

£600 first prize

The event will see bands perform a road march, contest march and hymn performance if they are to get their hands on the generous prize fund, which sees the winners march away with the £600 first prize.

The runner-up will bag £300 with the third placed band getting their hands on £150. The highest placed bands in the various sections will also pick up £100.

Prizes will also be awarded for the Best Soloist’, ‘Best road march’ and ‘Best Deportment’.

Establish

A spokesperson told 4BR: “We hope to establish this as a regular event in the North West and are looking forward to a great turn out for this inaugural contest".

The entry fee for the event is £30 per band.
