Newstead Brass has announced the signing of tenor horn player Jackie Greensted from Thoresby Colliery in time for the band’s appearance at the Midlands Area Championship in Bedworth in March.

Signings

Jackie takes over the solo horn position from Blake Tague who now moves onto flugel horn.

Jackie also joins principal cornet, Matt Hampton, in the January line-up of signings, which have recently seen Phillip White return to the front row cornet bench from Blidworth and Frankie France coming in on third cornet from Bestwood.

Tuba and troms

James Findlay has joined on second baritone from Thoresby, Rick Anker has moved from Foss Dyke on bass trombone, and Mark Hanson returns from a six month playing break.

In addition, Ben Armstrong makes the move from repiano to EEb Bass with James Rennie completing the BBb Bass section from Foresters and Steve Bottomley coing in from Thoresby, whilst William O’Brien moves from flugel to cornet as he pursues a career in the Armed Forces.
