New Zealand cornet star Kyle Lawson is the latest musician to become an endorsee and International Performance Artist for Geneva Instruments.
Mentored by the highly respected New Zealand cornet playing legend Kevin Jarrett, Kyle is regarded as one of the most gifted young brass players of his generation.
Award winner
A former recipient of the Adrienne, Lady Stewart Performance Bursary, Kyle was appointed Principal Cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of New Zealand in 2011 and Co-Principal Cornet of the National Australia Brass Youth Band in both 2013 and 2014.
He has also excelled in major solo competition events and claimed the New Zealand Junior ‘Champion of Champions’ solo title in 2010, the Amateur Cornet Championship in 2011 and the coveted title ‘National Cornet Champion’ title in 2013.
Principal cornet
He is currently principal cornet of Woolston Brass in Christchurch and a member of the National Band of New Zealand which toured China and Korea in 2014.
Since 2010, Kyle has been a member of the prestigious New Zealand Army Band performing at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in London (2012), the Basel Tattoo in Switzerland (2012), the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (2013) and in Lucerne, Switzerland (2014).
He is currently principal cornet of Woolston Brass in Christchurch and a member of the National Band of New Zealand which toured China and Korea in 2014Geneva Instruments
Champion
Following his most recent success in being crowned the inaugural ‘New Zealand Young Brass Musician of the Year’ (2014), Kyle was appointed an International Performance Artist, playing exclusively on Geneva Instruments.
