Owen Farr and Chris Thomas have been heading to foreign banding lands of late, with the Cory MD delving into a fishy score...

The players and MD of the world’s number 1 ranked band have been kept busy over the festive season.

Japan

Cory’s horn star Owen Farr (above) has just returned from yet another fantastic tour to Japan, where he undertook conducting, teaching, and masterclass performances in five different major cities.

Owen visited bands in Toyama, Koshigaya, Hanahatonishi, Tokyo and Osaka in a tour organised by the Buffet Group.

France

Meanwhile, solo trombone Chris Thomas enjoyed a wonderful time in France, after taking up an invitation to work alongside the trombone section of the Paris Brass Band ahead of their National Championship appearance in Lille later this month.

Mermaid

With MD, Philip Harper putting the finishing touches to his latest work, ‘The Mermaid of Zennor’ for the Cornish Youth Band, no wonder the band took time to enjoy themselves at their annual awards dinner, where Owen took the ‘Players Player of the Year’ award and cornet player Stephanie Wilkins claimed the ‘Bandsperson of the Year’ award.
