Trombone star Brett Baker will be racking up the air miles in the next few weeks as he criss-crosses from Norway to Argentina on his musical travels — starting at Skegness.
Norway
As part of his international responsibilities at the University of Salford, Brett Baker is to visit the inspirational Mangar Musicfolkschule in Norway following an invitation from the respected trombonist, Grethe Tonheim.
Brett will make the trip a few hours after playing with American friends of Oakland University Brass Band at the Butlins Mineworkers Festival in Skegness, and will teach and present workshops there with pupils.
Argentina
On his return he will then pack his bags and head south across the Atlantic Ocean to Isle Verde Bronces Brass Festival in Argentina, to join up with fellow international brass stars Eric Aubier, Daniel Crespo, Valentín Garvie, Miklós Nagy, Annamia Larsson, Denson Pollard, Les Neish, Lucía Zicos, Emiliano Patarra, Viviana Lazzarin, and Stefan Johnson.
Looking forward
Brett told 4BR: “I’m really looking forward to representing the University and trying my hand at a lot of different types of music including some alto trombone classics and some jazz on the next few tours.
I’m particularly looking forward to meeting the students in Norway, playing some duets with French Horn soloist Miklos Nagy and meeting up again with Les Niesh.”
