Kevin Holdgate’s, ‘Trombones against Breast Cancer’ fund raising initiative has gained yet more high profile compositional support.
With just 15 days to go before the Butlins Mineworkers Championship in Skegness, Prof. Philip Wilby has composed a new work for the trombone choir.
Thrilled
Kevin told 4BR: “I’m thrilled Prof Wilby has composed a work for us and it brings the total of world premieres to be performed to six. When I approached Philip he had absolutely no hesitation in saying yes, and within two weeks it was with me.
I’m humbled and extremely grateful to everyone for their help in supporting this event.”
More players needed
Kevin told 4BR that well over 50 players have signed up to play, although he is hopeful that given the amount of bands at Skegness, many more will sign up before the big day itself.
“There are probably dozens more who are simply there to listen,” he added. “With 5000 expected guests at Butlins I have no doubt that there will be a fair number. The event is open to every single player attending so please get in touch.”
