The BTM Band has announced that it has created new awards thanks to a significant bequest from one of the society’s generous supporters
The Justina Davey Awards will be made in memory of a lady who was a wonderful supporter the band over many years, with the inaugural presentation made at the BTM Band Society’s recent Christmas concert.
Talented percussionist
Talented young percussionist Andrew Penrose (pictured) whose performances on the concert and contest stage this year gained him glowing remarks from adjudicators and audiences alike, was presented with the ‘Learners Award’.
Impressive
The impressive baritone player Joe Kendall claimed the ‘BTM Next Generation’ award for his outstanding playing and commitment, whilst the ‘Senior’ award went to euphonium player Tim Jones who has played a pivotal role in the re-launch of BTM ‘That’s Brass’.
Not only has he been the ensemble’s hard working manager, he has also been a driving force behind the resurgence of the senior BTM Band.
