Geneva Instruments recently supported the Leighton Buzzard Salvation Army Band with their 125th anniversary celebrations, which concluded with a concert featuring Geneva Instrument’s artist Thomas Fountain alongside International Staff Band solo euphonium player, Derick Kane.
Invitation
The weekend commenced with an invitation from Bandmaster Gordon Camsey for past members to join with the present ensemble for an open rehearsal under the baton of Derick, where he and Thomas focused on the importance of regular practice techniques to enhance performance.
Geneva Instruments also provided an exhibition stand for the event, which was well received by many of those present taking advantage of the products available to trial throughout the day’s rehearsal.
Soloists
The evening concert featured Thomas and Derick as soloists, with the band performing several pieces including Norman Bearcroft’s march 'To Regions Fair' and Dean Goffin's classic 'Arise My Soul, Arise!'
Thomas’ solo items included, 'Whirlwind', 'Share My Yoke' and the first movement of Haydn's ‘Trumpet Concerto’, whilst Derick's solo spot included 'Silver Threads' and the beautiful 'My Love is like a Red, Red Rose'. The two joined together to perform the duet 'Deliverance'.

Milestone
Former bandsman and Geneva Instruments representative, Gregan Quick told 4BR: “Geneva Instruments would like to congratulate Leighton Buzzard on reaching this milestone.
We were delighted to be a part of their celebrations and to have Geneva artist Thomas Fountain feature as guest soloist with the band.
The anniversary was a great day of music making and fellowship with old, not so old and current band members.
We thank the Leighton Buzzard band for the invite and wish them every success in the future."
