The University of Salford has announced the winners of its 2014 International Composers Competition.
‘Scratched Vinyl’ by Ludovic Neurhor won the Championship Section category, with the ‘Hook 'em Horns and Gunsmoke and Goldust’ by Richard Haydn-Taylor taking the Youth Band award
Delighted
Ludovic (above left) who also enjoyed a premiere of his latest contest work, ‘*****’ for Brass Band and Ondes Martenot at the Swiss National Championship in Montreux on the weekend, told 4BR: "I'm always delighted to see my work appreciated by musicians and adjudicators. It's the best salary for an artist.
As a composer, it's never easy to make our own music and to guess how appreciated it will be by the audience and professional musicians. It gives me a lot of energy and pride."
Important competition
He added: "I'm also really pleased to win a new contest organised by the University of Salford where I studied. I wish the best for the future of this important competition.”

High quality
Howard J Evans, Director of Classical Performance of the School of Arts & Media added: “The University was proud to see so many of its alumni and existing students entering the competition and would like to congratulate all those who submitted entries for such high quality compositions.
Composers should be able to look forward to a similar event for 2015."
